About Me
Security analyst in training - breaking, fixing and documenting systems. 117secops is my public lab notebook for offensive/defensive experiments.
My Story
My journey into cybersecurity wasn't planned; it evolved from curiosity, determination, and a deep desire to solve real-world problems.
I started out working behind the scenes, fixing backend issues at Reelin formerly Versuspay, learning how systems run, and helping to keep things working smoothly. Over time, I found myself drawn to the deeper layers, how things could break, what made them vulnerable, and how to protect them.
During my time at the Transmission Company of Nigeria, I worked rotating shifts, monitoring critical systems around the clock. It taught me discipline, attention to detail, and what it means to keep things running under pressure. That experience showed me the importance of security, even in places where it may not always be apparent.
From there, I stepped into more technical roles, diving into security-focused work at Softdroom HQ. I didn't have all the answers, but I was always willing to learn, ask questions, and take on what others didn't want to.
That drive eventually led me to pursue a master's degree in cybersecurity, where I'm deepening my knowledge and building on everything I've learned so far.
Today, I'm still that same curious person, always learning, building, and looking for ways to make systems more secure. I believe in doing work that matters, staying grounded in values like integrity and excellence, so as to help people feel confident in the technology they use every day.
This is more than a career for me, it's a purpose.

MY MISSION
To develop the hands-on security expertise that protects modern businesses, while documenting my journey openly at 117secops. I believe effective cybersecurity isn't just about tools, but practical risk management that enables growth. Every lab, tutorial, and project brings me closer to becoming the defender organizations need.

- Observed and supported security implementations in CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and Jenkins, gaining hands-on exposure to DevSecOps workflows and practices.
- Participated in internal meetings focused on improving system security posture and compliance, with exposure to OWASP Top 10, access control models, and secure coding principles.
- The role sparked a deep curiosity in cybersecurity, motivating a transition into full-time academic pursuit of an MSc in Cyber Security.
- Concluded internship responsibilities before enrolling in the program, using insights from the role to shape academic focus areas like network security, security operations, and threat modelling.
Nigeria (On-site)
Key Achievements:
- Operated in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern to monitor critical electrical infrastructure systems, applying foundational SCADA security awareness to ensure operational continuity and secure data logging across transmission assets.
- Logged, validated, and analyzed real-time infrastructure telemetry using internal monitoring systems to support integrity checks, trend analysis, and compliance audits.
- Assisted in identifying anomalies in system readings, contributing to the early detection of potential faults or cyber-physical incidents in alignment with ICS/OT cybersecurity principles.
- Maintained detailed shift reports and handover documentation to support traceability and ongoing risk assessments.
- Developed foundational skills in infrastructure monitoring, log analysis, and situational awareness, aligning with key elements of SOC (Security Operations Center) analyst workflows and cybersecurity event monitoring.
US (Remote-Hybrid)
Key Achievements:
- Started as a web development intern, assisting in updating website features and fixing minor backend issues.
- After exploring cybersecurity independently, I earned a 6-month internship in infrastructure security.
- Supported backend engineers by testing APIs, documenting endpoints, and learning about server-side development.
- Gained exposure to infrastructure and security practices.
- Retained as a full-time staff member focusing on infrastructure security and scalable payment services.
- Assisted the team in deploying "scan to pay" payment features by working on backend components and reviewing integration steps.
- Participated in DevOps routines by observing pipeline deployments, managing automation scripts, and learning about CI/CD tools.
- Helped with general backend maintenance, running performance checks, and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior developers.
Nigeria (On-site)
Key Achievements:
